Had a dental appointment today at 4pm... and of course the later in the day your appointment is, the greater chance there is you'll get in there late. I did -- about 20 minutes late -- and it always takes forever and a day (this time 45 minutes) to get the calculus* off of my teeth. But the hygienist was new to the office and OMG, I ♥ her. Thirty-four years of experience sure does show. She gave me all kinds of excellent advice (Stimu-dents! Sonicare toothbrush!), and I didn't walk out of there feeling like I had unhinged my jaw. I actually feel fine! (Though I have another cavity. Grar. I hate that the insurance won't cover preventative sealant, but will cover fillings.)

I had to walk all the way home because the stupid buses were running the "not as frequently" after 6 schedule, so I could have waited around for 20 minutes for the bus, or be home in 20 minutes. I had started feeling hungry at about 3:45pm, was ravenous by the time I got home. And walked umpty-ump blocks with a full bladder. :P

Feeling much more human now.

(* = I cannot help but think of little math symbols when I hear or say this.)

I love my Sonicare BUT I tried the new Oral B fancypants toothbrush and was VERY impressed and would probably go for that instead. :)

Hmmm..... does it do the same kind of sonic vibration thing? That's what the hygienist recommended.

Yes. It also flosses and has a digital reader. According to the literature they gave us (I saw this at the dental convention and got a full demo) it's better than Sonicare (and of course they say that). I really was ready to trade up but I got my Sonicare for free and they weren't going to give me the other toothbrush for free...so free wins. I do like my Sonicare, I just hate having to buy *their* toothpaste for it.

Hm. Karen (the hygienist) told me not to get the one that you pre-load up with toothpaste, as it's more expensive, pointless, and messy, so they apparently make more than one variety.

So -- what's this super-duper Oral B one you're talking about? Model name, that sort of thing? Please? :)

Sonicare = the one that has cartridges of toothpaste. It's what I use. I got it for free and I do love it. But again, free.

Oral B - I can look up the name. I think I have it somewhere...

My dad's a dentist. :)

The Oral-B Triumph. I have a $10 mail in rebate coupon too if you want me to send it to you. (Email me your address.) I'll throw in the literature they gave me so you can read about it.

I had one of those crazed Sonicare toothbrushes. It made me climb the walls it was so buzzy and freaky feeling!! They should have a test-drive model.
