This time I need a song with the word "party" in the title or a party theme that's obvious in the title -- more of a summer party feel and not a frat party feel. The only ones I can think of are "Party Out of Bounds", "Garden Party", "Get the Party Started" and "Dead Man's Party", none of which are quite right.

And for the person (maybe [livejournal.com profile] jessruth?) who suggested "Feels Like Home" for my 'homecoming'-themed request: who was the artist again? ETA: Never mind, found it: Chantal Kreviazuk.

Lazy (but good) sort of day. Writing! Laundry! Shopping at World Market! Rigging up the iPod to play through the stereo (iPod Big Sound™)! Chicken and bell pepper spicy stir fry!

Random-seeming question for my English friends: what do the English call "oven mitts"? Relatedly, is there an English slang term for "the pill"? (I would ask [livejournal.com profile] little_details but since they were recently featured on the LJ Spotlight, the posting volume's gone way up and I've temporarily de-friended it until things calm down.)

Hmmm

Needing some research-type advice from someone who might be familiar with England, London and English marriage rituals.

I had heard once that the diamond engagement ring was not common in England. Is that correct? If it is not, what is common?

Secondly, depending mostly on the answer to the first question above, if one was wealthy and wished to purchase such a ring, where in London would be the most prestigious place to go? I keep thinking Harrod's, and I see that Tiffany's appears to have a store within, but is there something even more posh and upscale?

Thanks in advance!
