If you've ever seen the pilot for "Lost", you will vividly remember the sound that the jet engine on the beach makes. It climbs to a high-pitched, deafening whine, then spins down, before climbing again, with no tempo to speak of.

That said, I just wanted to share that the exhaust vent fan in the bathroom of this house sounds just like a miniature version of that jet engine.
