About 5 months ago I got a Sonicare toothbrush. In my last appointment in October, the dental hygienist noted that I had "moderate" amounts of calculus (...still imagining mathematics. Snerk. I am a nerd.).
My dental cleanings are usually a nightmare, and they always end up doing intense scraping, and oftentimes scaling. (Oddly enough, because I've cut so much sugar out of my diet, my mouth pH is basic (as opposed to acidic, not simple), which allows calcium deposits to thrive.)
Anyway, today she was done with the cleaning inside 30 minutes! Very little to pick off. And the hygienist kept saying, "Excellent, excellent, excellent" over and over again. Even the dentist herself was thrilled! (However, my jaw is still a bit sore. Better than usual though!)
So. The Sonicare made a HUGE difference, and she even said I was using it (mostly) correctly. My teeth and gums are healthier, my time in the dental chair was much less like a session with the Grand Inquisitor, and I don't have the screaming muscular headache I usually have from having to open wide and sustain it. WOO HOO! \o/
(No cavities, either! Even better!)
