Weekends never last very long
Mar. 10th, 2003 09:17 amI didn't get a chance to post on Friday, but it looks like for $500 I'll have a new (to me) car. A '94 black Hyundai hatchback. My friend assures me that it runs fine, just won't pass the required emissions test that Portland requires (we have no such requirement down here). Downside? It is a stick shift, and I don't know how to drive stick. Guess I will get to learn at the ripe old age of 32. But, I've never had a car less than 10 years old, so this will be good.
This weekend I had a to do list a mile long that I barely scraped the surface of. Felt so worn down from the week that I postponed my monthly scribal night for a week, went and rented South Park DVDs and vegged. Saturday went too fast and we watched anime (Vampire Hunter D was disappointing; Slayers was a whole lot of fun).
Practically the entirety of Sunday was sucked up ripping up bathroom floor and laying down peel-and-stick flooring (this batch was exceptionally sticky, and everything -- fingers, markers, scissors, screwdrivers -- had to be de-gummed with Goo Gone). It looks terrific, even if fitting around the toilet was a bitch and a half. There is a bit more to do; we just plain ran out of steam last night. And we have to deal with a patch of water-damaged particle board by the bathtub before we lay that tile down, and caulk around the edge of the tub and toilet. Whee. (I'm so domestic.)
