Day 06 - Favourite episode of your favourite TV show

(Which, you will recall, is TNG.)

This is a tough call. "Remember Me"? "Yesterday's Enterprise"? "Tapestry"? "The Inner Light"? That last one still makes me tear up when I think about it.

I wish I could say "Attached". I really wish I could.

Don't know titles, but some of my favs:

Picard and an alien converse in archetypes
Data channels a pantheon
Picard lives a compressed life and ends up with a flute
nuclear peptide cake ("Kill zem all!")

Ah, I see compressed life = The Inner light.

One of the only times I can think of when san 'it's only a dream' premise really worked...

"Remember Me" was the one with Wesley's warp bubble that Dr. Crusher was trapped in; "Yesterday's Enterprise" was the one where they encounter Enterprise-C, and Tasha Yar returns; "Tapestry" was 'what if Picard had played it safe and never gotten stabbed in the heart?'

Picard and an alien converse in archetypes
-- "Darmok"

Data channels a pantheon
-- "Masks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masks_%28Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation%29)"?

nuclear peptide cake ("Kill zem all!")
-- "Phantasms" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantasms_%28Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation%29) (I had to look it up. That one is good and weird!)

In browsing the episode list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_episodes), I find I forgot (in no particular order):

- "The Naked Now" and "The Big Goodbye" (for the Crusher/Picard UST factor)
- "Data's Day"
- "Lower Decks" (the one from the POV of lesser crew)
- "Perfect Mate" ("I am for you, Jean-Luc Picard")
- "Best of Both Worlds" (I and II)
- and of course, the finale, "All Good Things…". Duh!

I still think "The Inner Light" was my favourite.

...and that's why we love you! ;)

Yeah, the finale was also great.

Oh, and I hated Perfect Mate... depressing as all hell!

Why do you wish you liked "Attached"?

It was depressing, but I liked the interaction between Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen (Kamala). Interesting they would be reunited for X-Men.

(And how scary is that, that I didn't have to look up her name?)

"Attached": Oh, I did like it as an episode, and it had a potential to be my favourite--bringing together Picard and Beverly at long last! There was some snappy writing and some excellent acting, but the ending was such a disappointment, and, as it turns out, CHANGED from the original ending, which was much more optimistic and left the door open for a relationship to begin (I think her final line was "Maybe we should be afraid"; originally, if memory serves, it was "I'm not afraid, but I'm also not ready right now." I have an copy of the shooting script that I bought at a convention from Majel's company, which I shall have to dig up. (See subject line.)

Plus Beverly's dress in that final scene was an abomination unto nature.

:D

Dear God, that dress was just SO HIDEOUS. SO bad. SO SO bad.

I can still recite parts of Attached. And always, ALWAYS wish that stupid last scene would end very differently!

The God-Awful Dress. I remember one BONCer (I think it was Jen in chat) once say "OMG, Bev stood up and accidentally took the tablecloth with her!" I still laugh at that.

couldn't remember the dress so had to go look... 0_o yeah wow. The draped skirt could maybe have worked on a curvier figure like Troi's, not so much on hers, the stretch velveteen upper part is awful, and what is with having it all be TAUPE... Whereas the cut of himself's tunic is pretty damned sexy, but again, why TAUPE ON TAUPE brocade fer the love of bast, all of which exactly blends with the upholstery and wall color?? Wardrobe malfunction on deck 1!!

Oh yeah, I know
