Yesterday was nice and lazy. I don't want to go back to work. :P Maybe it'll be slow and I'll get to work on paperwork-ordering again.

Watched the 2005 Pride & Prejudice last night. Kinda meh about it. Kiera Knightley was okay (though how this was Oscar-nomination-worthy, I can't guess), but Matthew Macfayden? Not nearly broody or smouldery enough. (Yes, I realize I'm awfully biased.) He also reminds me of someone I used to know so that makes it worse for him. I was mostly impressed with the way things were compressed into a 2 hour movie. Oh, and I felt like I should have put the captioning on, because I had a hard time hearing the dialogue over the music. (Was it mixed in Doubly? ;) )

Off to make lunch for later.

The dialogue was more like, "Geez! We have to fit the entire book into two hours?! Speak quickly." Besides, Keira isn't that great an actress and can't enunciate to save her life.

Forget Matthew--watch the guy who plays Mr. Collins. So cute.

I also was confused why Keira got an Oscar nom, as I thought overall the acting wasn't that terrific, but I did like Matthew Macfadyen's take on Darcy being shy and a little socially awkward. It was a different interpretation than Firth's (or Olivier's for that matter), and that's fine. I did get disoriented for a minute, though, when it seems they all wondered into a Bronte book by accident. Nevermind, I kind of liked that too. Okay, so I may be a bit easy to please. ;^)

Hmmm, interesting comments on the new P&P. I haven't seen it yet and haven't really been all that excited about doing so, mainly because I just think it's gonna be hard to beat the Firthy one.

I liked it, but I do agree that trying to fit such a fab novel in a 2 hour movie was frustrating. Matthew Macfadyen's actually made the film for me, but then again I am sucker for handsome boys. Confession, I have never watched the mini-series, but I am going to have to now, promise.
