The thing about ants is that the ants in your house are not the issue, the ants in the nest that will follow them are. If the poison actually is poison them carrying it back is actually good (and it may have been designed for that).
Really, though, once ants get in, they're very hard to get out. They've left scent trails marking the path in, so you may be helped by finding, and blocking, their access point (or putting ant poison there), and then scrubbing the area around it.
