Snow Day!

I just got an alert by phone that my work site is CLOSED TOMORROW!!!!

Now, it sucks that it's due to the weather, but--

SNOW DAY! \o/

Crikey!

There's snow out there!
peppermintesse: (Sad Mac)
But 94°F at nearly 8 pm is not OK.
peppermintesse: (Crush your head!)
98°F (nearly 37°C) for a high today, really? And 93°F at 8pm at night? Can we cut this out now, please?

Sincerely,
Sandra

UGH

I do NOT do well in the heat.

It's 90°F right now (32.2°C)--which is nothing compared to some places, I grant you--and I feel like I'm positively melting.

I want my 72°F back. I'll even take the rain over this. Bring on the night so I can throw open the windows and pipe the cool air in. I'm sitting here practically in the dark, feeling like a shut-in. :P

Snow!

Imagine my surprise this morning when I opened the front door and found a snow-blanketed world! Very unusual for here. Made walking to the bus station very challenging (Birk clogs). Was having flashbacks to high school and college. =)

ETA: 12:24 pm PST: IS. STILL. SNOWING. ((O_O))
peppermintesse: (Default)
My weather widget tells me today's hot was 105°F. It is nine-thirty in the evening and it is says it is still 96°F. This is just wrong.

UGH

I shudder to think how abysmally hot it would be in here if we didn't have the window A/C unit. High predicted to be 100°F again. At 11:24am it's already 85°F; we are just not used to this.

We're going to be outside for a bit helping friends construct a storage shed. Checklist: sunscreen, baseball cap, bottle of water.

Yee hah!

We have to find a block of wood to hold up the front to make it level with the higher sill of the storm window outside, but ahhh, the lovely cool air it produces. (It's running on fan right now, sucking in cool night air.)

It's the PERFECT DAY OUTSIDE. I made the mistake of walking home though, because my allergies are like MUST PRODUCE HISTAMINE! WHEE! And I'm all: nose-blowing.

Feeling better, though still coughing. It's a good thing I wasn't sick enough to really call in. We are so short-handed at work. Three of my team were made supervisors and a bunch of others either have vacation days or are calling in sick. We are so behind! We are awaiting approval for three new team members (to replace the ones we've lost) but it's going to take at least 3 weeks before they're up to speed on everything we do.

Pizza time! Ta.

When you nearly decide to call in sick for the first time ever at your current job, and then decide against it because there's A/C at work.

UGH.

Woke up this morning sounding like I smoke a pack and a half a day, and feeling slightly woozy. Sad thing is my poor cat Rowan is sneezing and sounds congested too. And they're forecasting a high of 98°F, which I know is peanuts for some of you, but it's also kind of humid, and we don't have A/C. And I feel crappy. Who knows -- there may be a trip to the movies anyway.

Also, note to self: don't take your sinus / allergy meds on an empty stomach, because your stomach does not like it. You should know better.
peppermintesse: (Allegory)

We don't get thunder and lightning often; we had quite the rainstorm for about 10 minutes. Rain, wind, and pea-sized hail, too. For a moment there I thought we were having a typhoon :) It was amazing.

Uuuuuuugh

Went for a walk to drop off rent check. Gorgeous day. However, the air was quite full of particulate matter and now I look like I've been crying all day.

ETA: After antihistamining myself (eyes, nose, and pill) and taking a shower, I still feel like crap. This sucks.

Dear Mother Nature,

It is the 2nd of May. 33°F weather is not okay. I have already washed and put away the heated mattress pad, and stumbling through the bedroom to find the extra blanket at 2 am was extremely optional.

Brrr,

I was just about to post that the snow had melted and everything was sunny and green, except that it's snowing again. WTF?

Hee!

Snow!! )

Okay, so not the best pics, but I was limited to what I could do from the front porch. ;) And it'll so be gone by 9am.

ETA: It's snowing again, so I may have to amend my earlier estimate of meltage. They apparently also closed the schools today. For like, a half inch. Sheesh!
peppermintesse: (Jaye OMG)
Outside, it looks like the sun never bothered to rise all the way. It's a bit on the creepy side.

Eeeep.
