There was this deal that I couldn't refuse... and...

Does anyone want to buy a 15" TiBook, G4, 1GHz processor / 512 MB RAM / 60 GB HD / SuperDrive / Tiger OS?

New passport has arrived! Much more quickly than I expected. Now to acquire one of these. =)

I love browsing the used CDs at CD World, especially the odds & ends rack. They actually had a copy of The Waltons' Lik My Trakter (which I didn't buy because I already have one) for $2.95. Today, I came away with a cool CD from World Market called World Groove with covers of songs like "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by Ananda Shankar (Indian pop) and "James Bond Theme" by The Surf Champlers (Okinawan pop). The other one was 18 Grooves from&hellip the Wild Side with songs like "Fool's Gold" by the Stone Roses and "All Together Now" by the Farm (songs I became familiar with from Canadian radio from the mid-80s to early 90s). $2.95 a piece!

...and I just saw that Witchblade is available on DVD in July! W00T!

Last night, my father's eldest sibling (Uncle Wally) passed away. It wasn't a surprise because he had been ill for a while, and it wasn't expected he'd ever go home, but still... I have to admit a certain relief upon getting the voicemail--hearing my dad's voice sounding so sepulchral, I immediately thought something was wrong with my mother (she's fine). Is it bad to feel that it was "only" this? Not that I'm not sad, but this news I was kind of expecting.

I talked to my dad and he sounded all right. He had just seen Uncle Wally on the 1st in the hospital (where he'd been for some time). He was about 78 pounds when he died, which is about as much as my 11 year old niece weighs. He had acquired some kind of infection (possibly after his back surgery) and was kind of out of his mind.

My dad being my dad, he offered to send me a copy of the obituary so that I could take time off for bereavement... even if I don't come back east (which... I really can't afford it). I may take the time off.

I talked to my grandmother, too. It made me feel good to know she felt good about my calling.

...

Boo on Staples for only being open until 7pm on Saturday.

...

In more positive news, I am now the proud owner of Medium, season 1 on DVD. Yay for CD World's used DVD rack and gift certificates! :)

Yay

I just found a copy of Jumpin' Jack Flash (the Whoopi Goldberg movie, shup) at Barnes & Noble for $9.99. I had a $10 gift card. I am a happy camper.

W00T!

1.) Time off approved! Four-day weekend! \o/ I will sleep. But I also have to do my taxes and there are a lot of little things I want to take care of around the house. I will make a list... tomorrow.

2.) Big-time score on the Borders discount rack: "The Morning Star" by Nick Bantock--the only one of the Griffin & Sabine series I didn't actually have--for $2.99! Now my collection is complete. Muahahahaha.

3.) Random playlist shuffle is AWESOME. It's like having my very own radio station where all the music rocks and there are no commercials. :)

A copy of Louis Bayard's The Pale Blue Eye for $2. "Advanced Reader Copy: Not For Sale". I'd been eyeing this on the new hardcover table at Border's for a few weeks now. Whee!

Yee hah!

We have to find a block of wood to hold up the front to make it level with the higher sill of the storm window outside, but ahhh, the lovely cool air it produces. (It's running on fan right now, sucking in cool night air.)

I have a cel / mobile at last. It is forest green. It is not fancy but I like it lots. And our total bill is only going up $15. Yay! Now I have to figure out how to use it.

And via [livejournal.com profile] grian_ruadh: The Picard Song. It is extremely giggle-worthy: someone has made/found a techno song with Picard sound bytes and animated Sims TNG figures to it. It's all kinds of wrong to see Picard dancing like that. (Why oh why did they make Beverly BLONDE?? She's blonde in one movie...)

:D !!!!!1!11one!

(Short version: iPod Shuffle, not fixable, needed returning. Refund. I paid the difference and bought a refurb'ed 20g colour iPod.)

I decided to go shopping today with my birthday money. I didn't find a single damned thing I wanted to spend money on! Oh, sure, I found one DVD, but all I could think was, I can find this cheaper online. I did buy two books at a thrift store -- I usually only go in there because they're a feline rescue charity and the cats live in the store and are sleeping/romping among the merchandise and OMGDieOfCute! It's just a bonus when I find something I like to buy.

But I came home feeling kind of pouty at not having found something fun and splurgy. Wah. I guess I may just set it aside and save up for an iPod, after all! :)
