Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure show

Anything true-crime related: 48 Hours, Dateline, anything on A&E or Discovery (when we had cable) about mystery, forensics, murder and chaos.

Day 17 - Favourite mini series

No-brainer: A&E / BBC's Pride & Prejudice (1996). If I have to explain this to you, then... well. Perhaps there is no hope for you ;) In all seriousness, it is an amazing adaptation, and the one by which all future adaptations (read: Mr Darcy ;) ) are and will be compared.

I have to agree about P&P, of course. However, I think if I think back in time, mini-series in the 70s and 80s had more of an "event" feel and a bigger impact. Watching P&P the first time it aired on A&E was a solitary event. I'll never forget seeing Roots, Shogun, and The Day After. (I didn't actually like The Day After, but I remember everyone talking about it.)

Very true--The Thorn Birds, Lace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lace_%28TV_series%29) ("Which one of you bitches is my mother?"), even V and The Day After, which scared the living CRAP out of me. I would by no means suspend any pleasure of yours consider those my favourites in a million years :)

I very much enjoyed the British North and South too--Richard Armitage OMG FTW.

Hee...I totally loved V. I still laugh when I think about the dumb girl having the babies--first the lizard baby, and then the human looking one with the forked tongue.

I didn't watch The Thorn Birds. I knew all about it, but I honestly don't recall why I didn't watch. Maybe my parents thought it was a little too dirty or something for a girl. (My mom, of course, LOVED it. She's a big fan of Richard Chamberlin.)

But yes, as you say, just because some of those shows were memorable, that doens't mean they are favorites. Though I really loved Shogun.

I have not seen the British North and South. Though having seen Richard Armitage in the last season of MI-5, I can imagine the appeal!
